(A)Live Album “Re*cognition“: On the eve of Summertime 2016, Betty recorded a live album of songs that connect to and express about some of her experiences of being a descendent of European settlers, a population that was complacent in and responsible for the genocide and cultural oppression of indigenous peoples here on Turtle Island, aka Canada, and that continues to benefit from that oppression.
This album was released in December 2016. Songs from this album are available now and are an important part of ongoing decolonization and musical processes and dialogue that are happening inside and outside of Betty Supple.
New bands!!! Betty is collaborating with a new crew of amazing musicians that she is very excited about, a collective of 8 songwriters from Dirty Grace and Red Haven, joined by Kid Tiger and Logan Thackray. The Honey Tongues toured BC and a touch of Alberta in the summer of 2017 and will be touring again in 2018 following the release of their next album.
Betty & the Kid is another exciting project Betty is working on as you read this! Tucked away on a small gulf island, Betty and the Kid are working on seasonal EPs with inspirations filtering through autoharps, drum kits and human bodies – stay tuned for their progress and release dates.
